Preping a bull bar for paint
Hi Guys
I scored a steel bull bar for the Kombi, it has some rust on the plate that has bubbled, I have ground it back and treated it with rust converter,
it hasent eaten in to the surface too bad and a bit of spray putty should fill the deppressions
I was thinking of getting the rest of it sand blasted, how bad can the surface be and blasting still be effective (rust removal) and what sort of
charge money wise would I be looking at to get it done!
It is a good bar, and I have been looking for this particular bar, made by Town & country in the seventys.

Rob, I got our bullbar sand blasted and it made it really easy to paint.
The metal piping was not super smooth to begin with, but after priming and painting it is really glossy.
The sand removes all rust, but it must be primed straight away with at least an etch primer. Everywhere your hands touch start to go orange on the
surface of the metal within hours. :thumb

Hi Robo,
Doesn't matter how bad the rust is, sand blasting will remove it. If there's no good metal under the rust you just get holes back
As for price, not sure. I had 5 rims done at ~$20ea, but not sure if that's good or bad??
