Gearbox question

Wanted to know the differences between a 1967, 1300cc VW beetle g/box and a later 1600cc g/box.
I only ask this because I have a type 1 stroker 2litre motor to go in my 1967 beetle with the standard g/box.
Just needed to know if I would have any probs with g/box failure etc?

i think the main difference is the later one is taller geared. from memory i think you will want a 1500 gearbox it has taller gears than a 1300

There's a huge difference, your 1300 is swing axle, 1600 boxes are IRS.
The box u want is 1500 swing axle beetle.
Same ratios as an early 1600 Sbug box but will bolt in.
