Has anybody used these eBay gauges?

Hi

I'm thinking about buying one of these air intake temperature gauges.

Has anybody used these?

Steve

You can never have too many gauges.

Not the air temp but tacho and water temp, same gauges but badged a different brand.

Swiss stepper movement so they're incredibly accurate, I'm really happy with them, you can see the temp gauge reacting as the thermostat opens and shuts and the fans stop/start.

The ones I bought have peak recall which is really handy for the temp gauge.
It can show at any time the hottest it's ever recorded and its got warning set so soon as it hits 98c it starts flashing red and has a warning beeper but I've got that turned off cos it's f'king annoying on start up.

Tacho does the same but as a shift light thing.

opening and closing ceremany gets annoying at times though.

Hi Joel

Thanks for an intelligent answer, Birchall pull your head in their looking for wood.

I would find this gauge helpful as it would highlight any shortcomings in my intercooler setup, or could do a Birchall and drive along blissfully unaware of whats happening. I choose to know what's going on with my motor.

good idea Steve. how much are they? I could probably do with one in my intercooler air box to ensure it is sucking cool air rather than getting too hot from the back vent from the rad and turbos?? might need 2.......

and good to meet you at the big fish/pub the other day Joel, pity it so hot to hang around and talk......

great photo Phil, your kombi interior?

and agree again with ya Steve, pull ya head in Birchallllllllll

Likewise Lou, I racked off about lunch when it hit 40c and everyone else also decided the pub looked like a good option, was that place ever packed.

Steve, I remember watching the intake temps riding shotgun in the Mezz mobile when we were chasing your young bloke down on the pacific highway coming back from Dorrigo
Ian had one of those home thermometers with a cord measuring the intake temps

Was funny to see it spiking under boost but cooling back off so quick.

Hi Lou

I've bought one, they are $59.90 plus delivery, the eBay seller is nbits_auctions

I had a Jaycar one in my yellow bug, it was battery powered and not backlit, it reacted very quickly when getting on boost.

I was thinking about using the unused brake booster port on the inlet manifold as a location for the sender, Im not sure how well it would work there, or I might be better off getting westy to weld a bung on the intercooler outlet.

Steve
