connecting up an 009 dizzy
Hi guys,
i have just picked up an 009 mech dizzy (yes i read the posts on them AFTER i purchased it, Doh!).
as i was having some advance problems with the original one (30+ years old nd never serviced) ill use the 009 till i get the bosch German one fully
worked over nd up to spec.
so anyway, taking the old dizzy off and putting the 009 on. the 009 has a black and a red wire as the old dizzy just had a green wire going into the
points.
i have connected the black wire to the points connection (where the green wire sat) but does the red wire go to the other terminal on the coil?
(opposite side to the black wire).
i got the blue plazmex coil to suit in the original purchase of the dizzy.
ive got a "66 T1 with a warmed up 1600, fly cut heads, a 30yr old weber carb which is still good and empi tuck away system.
any help with the location of the red wire as i dont want to hook it up wrong and be in a worse situation than when i started to "fix it up"

[size=4]Hi
it sounds like it has no points....
electronic ignition.... hall effect...
which uses two wires...
RED and Black Red goes to ++++ on the coil..
12 volts Black goes to the ----- on the coil...
and Yes,
connecting these incorrectely is a costly mistake.. lol
some of these chinese 009s are OK I'm told...
many are Not....
Test it out with a strobe timing lamp at maximum advance... revving Your engine.. maximum 28 to 32 degrees..
if the timing doesn't move all over the place then its OK....
all 009s need lubrication... oil under the rotor button..
should be a piece of felt there...
