10mm Fuel line Qtn
Hi All, Who has inserted a bigger fuel line? I have a bare pan and want to buy some parts (fuel line steel) tomorrow and do the work sunday. Sorry
late notice.
I can cut the rear frame horn on top two cuts and slide the new one in but
1. What steel do i use? Where do i buy it?
2. Where is the original line secured?
3. Where do i cut the tunnel, how close will i be to the clutch and accellerator tubes???
4. What do i need to do to secure the new line?
5. Do i just bend and poke the new line through the existing hole in the frame head?
I'm hoping to prime the pan if i can do this and a few other jobs... tips, things i havent thought of?

PS should i further secure the existing tubes in the tunnel while i have it cut open?

Dude, you'll have to get in touch with a carb specialist to try and get hold of the tubing. Thats the hard part.
Once you have it then if it's the primary line with the orig as the secondary then it'll be fun trying to feed this thro the tunnel but do-able. if
taking over from the orig then somehow attach to the orig and use that to pull thro the tunnel. The orig tubes were welded into place whilst the
bottom plate of the floorpan spline was off so not poss for you. Best is to use a nice thick grommet to hold in place thro the tunnel end points.
If you have no luck with a new line then next best thing is pull it off a scrap EFI equiped car as on modern cars they just run under the floor with
plastic holders every so often

My black rotary beetle had a new 10mm main line and 8mm return line run but it was by the PO while the body was off.
Looked like what he did was enlarge the hole in the rear fork and front frame head bound the 2 lines toghether and fed them through.
I would imagine the original one was probably used to pull them through with.

start from the back yes.......i found putting the hose through fairly easy all things considered. (some pics in my build)
getting it under the torsion bar housings would be the trickiest along with the turn at the tank end. getting under the pedals there is plenty of
clearence

Cheers Guys, Got it done. Could only get some 8mm so went with that, a little disapointing but wasn't planning on doing it this weekend...
Anyway didn't take too long. Went in through the other frame horn, left the original in tack. Tried to go in from the front, but had to go in from
the rear. Not too much too it really. Will post some pics soon. First tme down the tunnel i accidently put the fuel line thorugh the shift rod front
support hole... that would have been annoying when i finally went to install the shifter.
