Anyone recognise or own these Type 3's?
Thes are some Type 3's I used to own back in the late nineties. I would love to know what became of them.
The Savannah beige was a 68. It ended up with an IRS pan (Pretty sure we ended up swapping the pan but can't remember if it ended up being done),
Maroon paint with an off white roof, big motor and polished Rivieras, last I heard it was in Melbourne. This is not to be confused with a similar car
(64 Notch) done by Rob Hildon now residing in Cronulla.
The blue/green 64 notch was a one-owner, low mileage, push button dash & mint cond salt & pepper interior. It was sold to a Tasmanian in 1999.
The car had never even been around the clock and had all it's service records.
The light blue 69 square was also a one owner low mileage car, sold at a VW show, during some tough times in 2000. It was sold with a set of Porsche
cookie cutters and had been rubbed down with 320 grit all over the body. I'm almost positive it's the car at this years nationals. (Please feel free
to correct me if I'm wrong)
Also trying to track down a white 67 notch. Last sold by me in late 2000, early 2001 I think. It had rare slotted beetle/KG rims with flat hubcaps in
original black & white colours. It also had white grind in thin whitewalls. This was formerly Boris's (Vintage Vee Dub) & I should never have
sold it without letting him know (I'm sorry Boris). Sorry I don't have a pic for that one, but you'd know if you saw it, it looked like it just
rolled off the assembly line.
Any info greatly appreciated, thanks in advance. Dave

Can't help with yours mate but I have the Ruby red/White roof Notch from Rob Hildon. Have had it for close to 15 years I think... I used to live in
Jannali (near Cronulla) but now live in Kensington, in case you're interested. It has gone a little bit of a different route than what Hildon would
have liked I think.

Good luck finding your old ones.

I was just interested in knowing what happened after I sold it, how many owners it's had since then, who did the restoration etc thats all. Did you
do it up? If so do you have a build thread? I would have hung around to meet you the other day at the show, but I had to leave early in the
afternoon.
I know it's the same car, there's too many giveaways that only someone who owned it would know about. Are you the guy I sold it to? I can't
remember & never kept any paperwork. I had a million things going on back then & had to get outta VW's to get my life sorted out. I would
have thought the current owner would be curious to know about it's history, but maybe that's just me....
Cheers & thanks for the reply.

i am not so sure that this is your old car as it was sold in blackburn. service history is there until 140, ooo miles. i bought it from a guy in
queensland, whose mrs family had owned the car. i am in the process of making it like a 70"s style car. i have spent considerable time and funds to
get it to where it is now, with more improvements to come.

Oh that's easy if you have the service history, you will have the places in Canberra it was worked on. I couldn't remember if I sold it with the
car, but I don't have it with me so it must have.
Anyway I'm sure it's the same one but it doesn't really matter, It looks great, and I'm glad it's in good hands. Hope you get a lot of enjoyment
from it.
Cheers, Dave

dave, its always good to come across people who have the same type 3 affliction i have. too often we are made to feel like the poor cousins of the
beetle people, truth is once you drive a type 3 its hard to go back to a beetle. Thanks for the compliments on my car its always nice to hear nice
things. cars of this age its hard to tell if the books are correct to the car so you never know it very well could be your old car.

much more advanced than Beetles...
and a much better drive... IMHO
I owned a white 1971 variant for about 10 years ... in the 80s..
