my pride and joy! (61 Beetle!)
hey guys, i am new to the forum and new to VW's. ive been into cars ever since i was a young fella. first started driving cars when i was about 8,
that's when i ditched the motorbikes. first car was a datsun 1500 ute, which soon had a welded diff and wound up torsion bars. when i was 11 or 12 i
moved over to 4wd's and got a few suzuki LJ's (still have 2). and a few weeks ago i decided i need a car to drive around when i get my licence in
November this year. (i am 16 currently) and there was a 61 beetle sitting in a guys car port. so i went and spoke to him and ended up getting this car
for $1000. it needs a bit of work, but it seems pretty good! dad knows a fair bit about VW's as he's had a few in his time so that has helped me out
a lot there. hoping to get this thing on the road ASAP. going to fix up some rust and dents and give it a respray, and get it looking really tidy.

Hey mate, im 14 and im restoring my 61 bug, that car looks really really good and solid. it looks like it is in good original condition.... to me you
should give the car and its chrome a polish and leave it like that. Redo the interior if necessary, get the motor running sweet and off you go. Keep
us posted.

there was heaps of bog cracking off it and as soon as it starts sitting out in the weather water will seep in behind it and it will get really bad.
it's all stripped back now and i have sanded/primed most panels. haven't worked on it for about three weeks but, due to neverending school work.
once the aussie dollar comes good again (hopefully soon) i am going to buy door rubbers, window rubbers, headliner, etc. the motor was supposedly
rebuilt but has been sitting for 7-8 years.
