[FS - VIC] 1971 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible - SOLD

Hi,

I am selling my 1971 "Superbug" Convertible. It was not originally a convertible, but I have the original engineering certificate from when it was converted to a drop-top. It has a "Porsche-style" wide-body bodykit and wide 14" wheels (would guess 8" width, but not 100% sure...)

It had a full engine rebuild about 1.5 years ago but has not been driven since as I got a new car while the engine was being rebuilt at the time. It was my daily driver before that, with mainly freeway K's between Melbourne and Bendigo. (Can't remember exact K's at this time, but will check and update...)

It still has the original seats, and they're still in decent nick for their age but I wouldn't say they are perfect, rear seat shows more wear than front, mainly corners where it rests on the frame once in place (out of sight).

Roof canvas is in need of replacing, it is about 20 years old and is showing its age, as you will see in the photos the plastic window panel in particular has now gone opaque. The actual mechanisms and frames of the roof are in good working order though.

Unfortunately, there is some damage to the R/H wheel guards. The front drivers side had been replaced but alignment is not perfect as it should be, so requires some adjustment. The rear 1/4 as seen in the photo is damaged (cracked), I have had the new panel to go with the car but have not fitted it. There was no major accident involved, I just misjudged a parking space (oops...).

There is some rust in the floor pan on the drivers side, however the photo seems to make it appear worse than it really is - It is mainly surface rust that could be sanded back and treated. There is also some rust bubbles along the bottom of the passenger side door, and a few more on the outer lip of the passenger side door frame.

Has not currently got a heater, as the old one was faulty.

It is not currently registered, and will be sold without a RWC.

Car is located in East Brunswick, Victoria.

Looking for around $1000 ONO as it can either be repaired or would make a good parts car.

If you want to contact me, you can either shoot me a PM, or contact me on my mobile 0414 252 735 before 9pm. (If I don't answer, please leave a message as I will most likely be at work). Cheers Clare.
