what do they look like??
one of the locals used to have chromed "U" shaped brackets over his beetle bumper brackets held on with a bolt and I think the nuts were welded to
the bits before chroming..
I'd never noticed them before on ghias...
and maybe that is what You are after???

With a little expertise you could make a set out of light gauge channel,I can measure them up and send you a pattern if you want to go this way.

Hi Lee,
They look like the photos above and were fitted to the KG bumper brackets.
Les, appreciate the offer and would be keen on the template or measurements as they are difficult to find.

I still haven't painted and refitted my front ones yet so a template wont be a problem,I think a bit of 1mm zincanneal cut and rolled over a small
radius with another section bent to fit across to the screw holes in the bracket would work well. Tack it together and paint it,use a bit of split
rubber from the rubber shop and Bob's your uncle.

If you can borrow one front, and one rear, wrap a piece of strong paper around each, and make two templates. The 'big' radius can be formed around
bit of 3/4" pipe.
I used 0.8 steel for mine, and they roll around the pipe easily, by hand. Don't forget that you will need to bend one R/H and one L/H of each! Easy
as.
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!

That was the plan,I use 1mm zincanneal because it bends well, doesn't rust and welds easily (and also because I have a 1/2 sheet left from the
workshop)!Cheers Les

I need a set of these too if you come across extras. If you make some would you be interested in making another set for a price?

Norbert I have got a template of the front one, just reverse it for the other side. Unfortunately the rear ones require bumper removal and my sense of
humour didn't stretch that far so I reckon fold the fronts and fit the template to the rear and make necessary adjustment which won't be very much
as they look similar.I will post it tomorrow. There is no reason that they couldn't be folded from aluminium.I will be talking to Ash about other bits
and will discuss this with him. Good Luck Les

Les,
Really appreciate all your help. Should be able to use the template and a bit of adjustment to make the fronts.
Thanks
Norbert
