Factory Silver Colour for Empi Sprintstars??
Hi All,
Does anyone know whether there was a factory matt silver colour paint code for original Empi Sprintstars (5 lug). If so, what is it, or what have
people used?
Cheers

PPG Aluminium extra fine basecoat with 2k clear over that is what I used for my Sprintstars. (Back in 1997 it was still known as Dulux, and was the
basecoat system 'Cobra' exactly the same as PPG now)
Then it was masked off and sprayed in 2k black with some flatting additive mixed in to slightly kill the gloss.
Took many hours of prep and masking but was worth it.
The original Empi wheels were made by Lemmerz, who finished them in a milky looking dull silver which looked like crap. Most of the original sets have
been repainted with a little more lustre long ago.

After masking up the clearcoated rims, I spent a few hours getting scotchbrite pads into all the corners of the black area so the black would stick
well and not peel, even if it was pressure washed etc. It's a pain in the ass but worth it.
Good luck and put some pics up when they're done.

Hi
I've found that Nissan Diamond lustre in a pressure pack touch up looks good, also Power plus silver wheels looks good as well, if you don't have
spray facilities.
I use the Power plus on the inside of my bumpers.
