EJ22 in bus

76KW (101hp)at the back wheels.

That would be about 135hp at the engine!

According the Wiki the ej221 makes 133hp and the Ej222 142hp so your right on the money.

My 2.0L EJ20 Quad cam was 110Hp atw stock ECU, 125Hp microtec ECU.
2.0L EJ20T quad cam turbo (legacy RS motor with VF10 turbo and stock ECU) was 175Hp atw.

From experience, all 2-2.2L Ej's seem to produce between 100-130Hp atw, turbo versions 165-210hp from stock to relatively mild mods.
2.5L non turbos don't have that much more hp, but have a fair bit more torque down low.

Cool , so you gained 15hp with the aftermarket ecu.

Apparently, Was at the same shop on the same dyno. The operator said I could probably get 10-20hp extra with aftermarket ECU... he tuned it and yeah got 15hp extra... BUT i didnt really notice it. It seemed to just have a bit more top end power. Although it had more power on paper it wasnt as good, harder to start, sometimes played up, the tuner wasnt really up on subies.... So when I did my new car with the turbo engine, i stayed with the stock ecu. Sure an aftermarket ecu is better on a turbo, but just couldnt be bothered again.

In simple terms what I have read/heard, is that due to emissions and catalytic converters (and tuning to cover all atmospheric conditions around the planet) most stock ecu maps are set up for stoich 14.6 to 1 fuel air ratio.

So where an after market ecu/engine chipping can help is you can go to 12.5/13 to 1 heavy throttle and get more power and run 16.5/17 to 1 at part throttle and get better mpgs.
A rich mix is easier ignited and a lean mix is harder to light and slow burning so you take full advantage of these wider ranging fuel mixes you also need to adjust your spark timing map.

I'm thinking your dyno guy adjusted your fuel map to get you the extra 15hp but did not dial in the spark timing, hence you did not like it.
