Lowering beetle in Adelaide - suggestions

Looking for recommendations for somewhere to get my '64 Beetle lowered in the Adelaide area. (I live on the northern side if that helps).

Try asking Paul at Volksfactory in Holden Hill. He's probably not much into lowering as he prefers to see VWs kept stock, but he definitely knows VW mechanicals and could easily set the height at the back for you. Probably not the person to ask for welding in front beam adjusters and so forth though.

If you picked that up from near Tea Tree Gully, the bloke who was storing it, could help you.

Yeah, Paul at Volksfactory is definitely someone I'd talk to to get this done. But like Mark said, not many people here (VW mechanics anyway) like to do anything drastic, seems the rule here is to keep 'em stock or do it yourself!

:P

Really, Volksfactory? Bought some parts from there the other week and didn't leave with a warm fuzzy feeling about his enthusiasm to work on older VW's anymore. Said he preferred to work on the later cars, and wouldn't work on an older 'dirty' car. Maybe I caught him on a bad day?

Paul is a bit difficult to deal with if you ask me.
He didn't really enjoy talking to me either.

I have, since then, moved to another mechanic at GHR.
He is a lot more enthusiastic about such things and is an overall great guy!

However, it is a bit of a trip. I live in Payneham, and still make the effort to go down there.
They're on Daws Road, just off of South Road.

I have to call him on Monday about a second hand motor... Thank you for reminding me!

Just a local guy mate, wanted someone to look over the car for me initially, so I knew what needed to be replaced. Otherwise I'm looking after servicing/maintenance myself.

They are pretty chill blokes
but sadly they like the VW standard
they'll probably say okay if it's just the back...
they'll do it but only if they're not too busy

Yeah, I might have to get her serviced soon so will ask what they would actually do.
Wonder if they've got any nice 1600tp engines floating around. Might head down there sometime next week.
