Installing Pertronix Dizzy

Is the correct timing for these on a 1600TP around 30 degrees btdc @ 3000rpm?
Thanks
Dave

I have installed a new Pertronix mech advance dizzy and the rotor is pointing at 5 oclock, as per instructions. However the notch on the dizzy rim is at around 1 oclock? Do I disregard the notch on the new dizzy and therefore No1 firing is now at 5 oclock mark?

The old vacuum dizzy notch on the rim was also at 1 oclock and this is where the rotor pointed to for No1 firing.

Thanks

Ok so I set the tiiming statically @ 7.5 degrees to get things going. It starts and revs fine but will not come back to idle . By the time I get around to the back of the car the %^##^&&&& has stopped. What should I be looking for?
Background on motor: 1600TP balanced, lightened flywheel, mild cam, some head work, standard 34pict carb.

Thanks
Dave
