Deck Lid Stand Offs

Hey all!

I just put on my EMPI (Yes, I know, terrible brand) deck lid stand offs (the ones that pop the top) and have noticed that my deck lid now doesn't sit straight.

I am 100% sure that they are even, but could it just be that the EMPI stand offs are off?

I had to bend the bit that the latch latches on to so that it at least closed, but even that was a struggle as it isn't even for some reason.

Any other theories that could help me diagnose and fix this issue?

Hi
the top hinge plates are adjustable...

and I used that type of stand off for a couple of years...
but never got the top of the decklid level... ??

I even placed pieces of rubber under the hinge plates to get it closer...
and moved the lid lock catch...

Now I have the other type .. cool jax type...

so, I never need to adjust the hinges again...

just pull two pins out and replace...

they don't look as good as the empi ones..

getting the engine lid exactly correct is very difficult....

best of luck..

cheers

LEE

Thanks Lee.

Yeah, it's somewhat impossible. Spent about an hour just then trying to get it right but no luck.
Might just take them off and leave it for now, but will invest in those hood jax ones so that it makes it somewhat easier.

Thanks again Lee!

Can one still fit the deck lid spring or is that a complete no no?

Just wondering, just had to rewire up the license plate light and boy it was hard balancing the deck lid on my head.
:P

I don't think the deck lid spring can be fitted with the stand offs
I have thought that maybe an extension piece could be fitted to the spring???
or gas lifts.. ?? You can get them for the bonnet..

You can stick phillips head screwdrivers in the hinge to hold the deck lid up.. I did have a pic somewhere..

can take 4 in the slots... [forgot about that...lol]

I carry a piece of aluminium tube to hold the lid up..
the end sits on the tinware ..

at home I have another piece of aluminium tube that sits on the ground and holds the lid up...

the deck lid standoffs do work great in the summer...
dragging the cool air IN and letting any hot air from the engine bay out when stopped...

cheers

LEE

Thanks for that Lee!

Will remember the screwdriver trick next time, my neck is killing me now!
:P

Well, I am yet to witness it's full potential in the summer, but will be warming up here soon.
I'm really enjoying the look though!
