newbie....HEY..!
Hey guys..
ive been on here a while been looking around and seeing others projects and cars..
ive always wanted a project car..
and ive always been quite fond of beetles..
i recently purchased a beetle..=) i'm not sure of the year of it because the rego papers are different to the chassis..
chassis says 1971 tho..
at the moment it looks like everything is there..but everything is in a million peices in boxes.. and i dont know where to start..and being not too
mechanically minded makes it a little harder..
maybe i need to track down a tear down/rebuild manual seeing as its already in peices..
at the moment i am just repairing rust and dents ect
from what the previous owner told me it has a 1500 engine..
it also has a autostick..
i haven't started the engine yet because like i said it is in peices..and am really keen on atleast hearing it running..i suppose it will make me
more motovated..=)
this is my first time posting on a forum..

Well done on the project, it will keep you busy and frustrated at times for sure!
Before you do anything, the first investment you need to make is this book:

Hey welcome to here !!!
Second thing to do... well something to do RIGHT NOW is seal up that intake manifold !!! (the hole in the middle of the engine).
Just stuff a rag in there, cover over with a plastic bag and tape it down... don't want any water or wildlife getting down in there !!!

It's a 70 model
Welcome to here, looks like a good solid body.
The semi-autos were fully imported and had a much better rust proofing at the german factory than the locally assembled aussie bugs so they are
usually better for rust.

Yes, defiintely unbolt the shell from the pan and scrub, repair and rust bullet paint the whole thing. What's the point in having a shiny paint job
if the pan is crap. Like rolling a turd in glitter really?
Another tip, before you do anything with that motor, get yourself some tinware!!!

I just know my shit
Nah, there is a few identifying features, the defroster vents on the dash put it before october 70, front heater outlets put it after mid 69 and the
original honey brown colour didnt start till 70.
I'll make a bet too it has a cable release fuel door.
