Rear wing

hi guys, does anyone know where i can get an aluminum rear wing here in Australia? similar to this one.... I'm about to do up an engine cover for the drag bug and if i can get one cheap enough i'd like to put one on there. obviously not for any real aerodynamic purposes, i just think they look cool  It's only gonna get faster from here so it might as well look the part!

Mick

Big wig race cars make them. Try rod Penrose or get it direct from the states.

Heh heh... with a wing that size, could make comments about over compensating Mick !!!

Quite liked the look of the wing on one of the Bugs at Warwick.... Herrod Helper they're called, and can get 'em on samba pretty easy it seems.

Reckon you should go one of them !!!

Make your self some templates from card board, cut the pieces your self from ally sheet with a jig saw,
or get a sheety to cut it, and bend the ally for you.
I think the "buy it from the states" is getting out of hand.
Just the freight would cost more than the materials.

Ah Sides, I saw that wing also.... I didn't like it at all  As i said, it's not about aerodynamics... It's about having a big friggin' wing! Make it look like a drag car!

DB, you are probably right, i know bigwig race cars sells them in the states... the price is good, the freight will kill it. I have spoken to Rod, he makes his own. I have spoken to wayne, he buys a few every now and then but he has none left and by the sounds of it probably won't get any in for a while.

I just thought someone here might know of, or have an old one they would part with.... Might just have to make a bit of a project of it between now and sydney!

He got that one from michael nash I think, leftovers from his drag car build.... It's a ron lummus racing wing and he got it for a bargain!

We'll probably just make one in the end.... After i get the turbo on there. We'll probably need to cut a hole in the wing for the holley to stick through anyway! By the looks of them they sit up pretty high on those manifolds....

Haha that's the problem, I'd rather have it dzus fastened than nailed to the car!!! The big wig wing will look a lot better than anything my meagre skills can conjure up... mmm beer...

I'm sure it will rock up one day, but patience is starting to wear thin after this much time
