front shockies please help


i got some shockies sent up for my 1971 vw beetle 1300
i recieved gen shocks in the post and everything looked great unitil i tried to put bottom of the shock and and the shaft it goes on is too big the shock has a like metal bush in it and with the other shocks being completely flogged out i couldnt tell tell if it had the metal bushes on them or not and i looked to see if amybe the bush was still on there but i looked and it doesnt look like it hope someone can help me

they all have the steel bushing pressed in...

the bush may be jammed onto the bolt??

there wasnt much left on the shockie rubbers so thats what im thinking ill have to get a closer look i only just got it and the shockies were shot

Do you mean the bottom bush of the new shocks in too long for the bolt? or that the hole in the lower bush is too small to fit over the lower mount?

Some after market shocks require the bottom bush to be trimmed on either side so they are flush with the rubbers.

the bush in the bottom of the front shocks are narrow..
so they will fit over the stud...

the steel bush is probably still on the stud...

if they are flogged out the bush will look like its part of the stud.

vise grips may get them loose... twist as You pull..

how come You didn't notice they were worn out??

yep you were right mate they were still on there but looked part of the shaft i got them off yesterday and new shocks fitted thanks heaps for your advice
