Wiper Motor Strange Noises- '68 T1 1500

When I turned the wipers on this arvo they work fine however they are making a strange noise. Sounds like something rotating is hitting something. So the question is, can these motors be overhauled and if so anyone know anyone in Vic that can help? I am reluctant to fit a good used one as it will be 40 years old as well. Alternatively, has anyone retrofitted a newer wiper motor to a beetle? Any help appreciated
Cheers..wayne

I run mitsubishi fagna wiper motor
basically shorten the arm at the motor and
cut the arm that connects motor to the master blade use half of magna's arm so one side can go on motor and other side is the same.
it now wipe stronger and smoother lol

EDIT:
I forgot to mention the annoying step of having to cut a and drill steel plate for adaptor plate.
It was worth it tho..

Yes the wiper motors can be overhauled. Try calling some of your local auto electricians.

If your getting a knocking sound, have you checked the wiper mechanicals arn't hitting anything like the radio or etc?

Thats not rust, it's ah ... orange primer ... yep that's what it is ...

Thanks guys. I will pull the motor out and have a look. The noise sounds like the brushes hitting on the armature or similar. Hopefully I can get it fixed in time for the DOTVW next weekend.
Cheers
