Dynamat in a Kombi
Had a nice time at Das resto Parts opening last weekend. I spoke to a lot of kombi owners who wanted information on how to sound / heatproof their
vehicles.
I have never had a Kombi - are they really that noisy?
I have attached a cut-away view of what you can do to rectify the situation.

mine seems to be louder on the inside than from outside. thanks for posting this up! i didn't know there were so many different types of dynamat. any
chance of a high resolution version?

Hey Marc, thanks for making it down the open day - we use Dynamat Xtreme in almost all of our resto's with great success. Its impossible to elminate
noise altogether in these 40+ year old cars however it does make a considerable difference, especially in the side panels and roof by taking the panel
vibration out and "tinnyness".

There is a few down sides its expensive especially dyna mat (who for years seems to sell on the hype) theres other similar products which will save
you alittle, also it's quite heavy.
If your thinking of doing the whole kombi I would drive it first then weigh up if you need to do the whole lot. I'de personally do the engine parcel
shelf and put 250mm/450mm strips in the sides and doors, that'll calm the drumming right down.
Putting it on the roof could bite you if it comes down in a few years. My trimmer doesn't recomend using it in the roof, hes seen it loosen in
extream heat days.
