Have you done any online research? quite a few websites in USA dedicated to NA EJ motors and others. Being a Jap motor I don't reckon there is much
room for longer throw unless the block was used for a larger capacity model and then again that may just be piston upsizing.
madness is in the eye of the beholder

Wouldn't waste your time on the older engine. The Ez30 (newer 3.0l) has so many aftermarket bits being made for it now, you'd be better off with one
of those.
Other thing you need to watch with the SVX motor is the water pump outlet. It's too small and the car overheats if revved high for long periods.

MRT did a writeup about this issue some time back in their newsletter. I also posted the link here somewhere... Ah, here it is...

Revs are the issue. Check this article. BTW, what are you putting engine in?

Not sure where you are, but in NSW i dont think you can register a bug with an engine larger than 2.5l n/a or 2L turbo.
Also cutting the torsion housing is a no no.
Thats why everyone runs EJ's.
You want made power? sti motors come with 208kw stock, throw on a decent exhaust, intake, boost controller etc and the sky is the limit

Depends what model bug is used.
73 and later are subject to different ADR than the earlier cars.
Also weight affects it too, I know my 74 Lbug I can go upto 2.2 force fed or 3L N/A

If they can do this in an early bug, nice work I might add, then I should (maybe) be able to do a SVX. I don't know where I copied the pic's from,
but I sure would like to see more. |
