syncro conversion

Gday All big day today we started converting syncro to subi reverse gearbox. We have the subi rear diff mounted up front. that was simple the brackets are spot welded to get into situ just the mater of using it as a jig to make proper mount it uses the original syncro front diff xmember & mounts the owner has an EJ20 powered syncro that we are using for measurements for engine box location.

Yeah but that's not a 4WD syncro, it's a 2WD Vanagon.
That build thread above should be a runner this weekend....he was delayed because it took me ages to get the 4.1 ring and pinion for him. (thank goodness I sorted that out!).

Replacing an entire VW 4WD system in a Syncro with all Subie components is going to be very interesting indeed. Should be a good pioneering effort. Hungry for photos.... :-)

Gday all spent several hours sorting out front diff mounts today we are using the original syncro x members for ease of conversion sat the motor & trans in to position Todd has kindly lent me drive flanges to set axle position once thats done we can move onto mount locations the subi shifter has a unijoint almost identical to kombi so we will just have to shorten linkage and grind a mm off 2 of the vw nylon uni joints to fit into subi box. With a bit of luck should have mounts sorted by next friday
