Hey all was more then that to buy haha, EJ20 engine, unknown box (Need to figure out), rack and pinion steering, ford wheels brakes front and rear,
wishbone suspension.
Plan on circuit, hill climb and occasionally the strip for a laugh. I just need to find out what class I need to be in here in QLD.
Will take more photos tomorrow of the rest of the car.

Yeah, I remember a mate of mine telling me about this one up for sal... somewhere out near Ipswich from memory ??? Definitely looked the goods in the
pics, and a few "thinking outside the box' things too
Fiberglass panels and different manufacturer engine means Sports Sedan - easy peasy. Good class to run as far as Hillclimb's - you're allowed to run
slicks if you want !!!
Driver's door corner... perhaps a way of the letting the door open by clearing the trailer mudgaurd ???
Also, got an idea the box in it might have been 1600 Kombi ???

The MG car club at Mt Cotton are a great bunch of guys and they own and run the hillclimb track in Brisbane.
Dave Sidery (sides) can give some more insight as he has been at it for a few years.

Ifg you want to run on some bitumen circuits to start with then you can run with AASA group,,, that way You can virtually set it up how you want for
now,
Get onto the people from Queensland Raceway & ask when you can get it out to lakeside raceway & QR on their practice meetings & see how it
goes
You can also get into the IWMAC (ipswich West Moreton Auto Club) & play on the dirt autocross tracks to start , if you like
or maybe MG car club (as suggested earlier) for the MT Cotton Hillclimb track, or even the Historic racing car club,,,
they run both Mt Cootha Hillclimb & Nossa Hillclimb
there are plenty of avenues but basically it`s a "Safety first" thing & best to get it looked at by a CAMS scrutineer (maybe) & see what
they say first
then go from there,
if you need/want some help my ph number is 0407 135 656
cheers
Matt

Great another Brissy track vw. I just finished mine and have done a bit more work on it since its debut at Warwrick drags. I am going down the AASA
route as suggested by Matt and have also just joined the HRCC and VWDCQ so I can also get my S2 license .
This sunday the watercooled guys are having a breakfast and 1/2 test at Lakeside and I am actually taking my car to run on the track for the first
time. Also plan to let the scrutineers go over it as well as they are having their sprint series as well on Sunday. 7.30 start.
I think they still have one or two spots left but even if you don't run it it is probably worth going for a look and having a talk to the guys at the
track.
Maybe we should try and get all the Brisbane vw racers together to share ideas and info??

Just need to get it on the track lou0060 ha. I have never had anything to do with Subaru engines before so all is new to me. I have done a bit of
engine mapping before and now have the stinger EMS 4424 program for the beetle.... Just need to get cable and track time....

They're doing scruit now before you can run at Lakeside ??? If so that's new, but definitely a good thing - all they used to do was check for noise
levels.
AASA is used by most permanent tracks, while most club events run under CAMS. Generally CAMS requirements are more detailed and strict, both for
safety and for keeping it sporting fair... AASA is bit more about getting out and having a go without taking crazy risks.
If your car passes CAMS will be fine for AASA too, but not necessarily true the other way around...

Lakeside yesterday was fun. Unfortunately one of my turbo hoses had come off and so I was only getting 4100 rpm before it was missing. By the time
we worked it out the 1/2 session was over. Still it was a good first run for the car.
I had the head scrutineer Trevor check the car and he said it was okay for the TOP GEar series so I was happy with that.
NT, is your EJ20 NA? Also I gather it is running aftermarket ECU, hence the Stinger box. Also running a rear mount raditor, jeez I copped some slack
about that on the non-vw engine forum but it seemed to run okay yesterday albeit at lower revs than I would have hoped. It will be good to comapre
notes with you once you get it on track.

Hey mate I went down to Lakeside as well (Didnt take the car with me didnt know who to talk to down there) Only got there round 1230 so just watched
some sprints.
Mine is a EJ20 N/A... not what sure what has been done to it. I need to find somewhere with a dyno and can tune EMS.... For now a change of Plugs,
Leads, Fuel and Oil Filters, and some new oil should have her running a little better (been sitting for a while before I bought it.
I am unsure of how Lakeside works with racing or what I can compete in. I was able to have a play with it (Uncle has long, wide bitumen driveway haha)
went hard but was breaking down a little in the high rev range under load. I later found a fuel leak in one of the regulators which would starve
it.... plus I am sure the stale fuel wouldn't of helped.

hi NT, pity we didn't hook up on Sunday. I stayed to watch the sprints as well and took the opportunity to move my car to the outside of the track
at around 12.30 as you are not allowed to run trailers thru the tunnel.
I'll pm you my phone number and we'll see if we can get together sometime. I have most of the info needed to get started with the sprints and also
Top Gear and am plannin gto go to Morgan Park in Feb with the HRCC.

This car is just begging for a WRX engine. I'd reccomend getting that pod filter out of the engine bay away from the hot air coming off the
radiator.

Thanks for the tip I might fabricate a box and have a intake all to itself..... After buying the car I now have to get it on the track before I can
spend lump sump money on it but I agree.

I boxed mine in on the right hand side with an air intake in the guard, this way it doesn't get any but from outside the engine bay.
Made quite a difference in my intake temps too.
