How to install a new hood release cable
Just pulled out the old hood release cable from my 65 beetle cos the knob was all cracked. But now I can't install the new one, the cable is getting
caught up in the tight bends in the tube down near the latch mechanism.
Are there any tricks on how to feed the cable all the way through the tube?????
Such a simple task, it's so frustrating I can't get it!!!!

I've always had a win just by turning/twisting the cable at the difficult turns.

Hi Mathew
trick is... stick some grease or vaseline onto the end of the cable before you stick it in and a bit of oil into the tube [if you can] or wd40
spray...
as You push the cable in twist it round and round as you go
so when it its the tight spots it should slip over them..

Ok, so I used heaps of wd40 down the tube, and the tip of the cable(wire) I bent back on itself and crimped it down hard with some pliers so it was a
nice rounded end. And with a little jiggling it finally went through!!
