Spark plugs

HI

I bough some B5ES plugs but the HT leads I have won't fit on the end.

Previously the cap on the spark plug has crewed off to reveal a threaded end that the lead fits.

These plugs the end is molded so it is too big!

Any ideas / suggestions?

YEP
wrong plugs
that is why the bits don't come off...
BOSCH BERU or NGK B5HS or DENSO W16FS

and You didn't buy your plugs from a VW Parts Shop did you?

Best to buy from a VW parts shop
they know as they sell VW parts every day...

Many Car parts shops just substitute a Plug to one they think is close enough... as VW plugs are no longer Big sellers..

cheers

plugs to suit late model cars now have the top part made as one piece not individual..

My Beetle uses leads that use the caps... lol

Get spark plug leads made up that have the right fitting for those plugs.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to get the correct plugs?

It is very hard to get suitable leads for an air cooled motor for those plugs.

I read it on samba, so it must be correct.

Sometimes Volkswagen dealers sell spare parts. Amazing isn't it!

Definitely cheaper to get the correct plugs, but it is possible to get the leads made up.

The problem is the ends at the spark plug. I've seen a lot of engines destroyed because of spark plug leads from Repco, Bursons etc.
