Manx Club - Nanango old coach Rd run - PICS!!!
Saturday August 30 - Nanango Coach Rd Trip
This is an all day trip, it seemed easier than organising a 1 night camping trip. North siders can meet at Samford Supermarket (next to the petrol
station) at 8:30am. We will then head off the scenic way across Mt Glorious then past Lake Wivenhoe and Somerset Dam. We'll continue North to
Kilcoy where we meet the D'aguilar Hwy. South siders can head past ipswitch and up past Esk. We will then meet up at about 10:00am at near Moore
at a BP petrol Station which is about 35-40km west of Kilcoy on the D'aguilar Hwy.
From the we will do the trip outlined on this map. see below
There are few toilets and few food stops on the way, so BYO whatever you need.
The lower pics on this page show some details of my last trip.
http://www.offroadvw.net/bajawes/offroad/benarkin.html
It is mainly dirt with ruts, a few rockier sections. Any vehicle with 200mm of ground clearance should be fine (apart from a stock kombi).
The track has a lot of excellent little play area's, including optional tricky tracks to challenge the more adventurous.
P.S Please let me know if you are coming …….

Are you coming Graham?
So far I think I have;
Andrew in the Towd
Me in my Baja
Ronnie in a landcruiser troopy
Probably Dyno in his supasports
Prob Kenny in his J&S
Prob Ben in his yellow manx
Daz can't make it, Brad obviously can't either.
It's a fun trip. The main track isn't too hard, but there are heaps of cool little play area's off to the side that range from fun to
extreme.

I didn't take many pics really. Hopefully Terry will email his pics.
It was a good day, but a long day. I got home about 6:30 that night, and I was stuffed.
We had 7 members;
* Me (g/f Meegan, and Barry) in my V6 Baja
* Darren (and Tyson) in his EA82T Baja
* Andrew (and Troy) in his Tow'd
* Terry (and Ronny) in Andrew's Manx
* Kenny (and his wife) in his J&S
* Ben (and Donna) in his Manx
* Dyno in his Supasports
And Kenny's daughter in a hilux with family and kids.
There were heaps of play tracks off to the side, some were pretty wild and none of us tried them.
One long rut wasn't so much difficult, just dangerous for Baja's. It had real steep side walls, and my guards were about 10mm from the side
so I decided not to go any further. I think everyone would have agreed it would've resulted in panel damage.
At the last play area I found a good steep rocky hill to play on. I did it very easily in the Baja, using the low down torque over the rocky bits then
accelerating for the rest. I made it look too easy, because when Andrew tried in the Tow'd he didn't keep enough speed and didn't make
it. On further attempts he went faster and made it fine. Dyno forgot to try that track because he was rebuilding a carb with a stuck float needle at
the time. Ben tried it in his manx, but his carb didn't like the rough rocks combined with the steep hill and just kept bogging down.
One track that Andrew lined up to, but no-one tried, had a steep section that was nearly vertical. I think if Brad had've been there we
would've seen a roll-over

Wow, excellent pics:thumb
Looks like a great day
Some how can't help but think of a row of crabs, or something moving along in some of the pics
I've moved this post over to here in General Chat so it gets the exposure it deserves.
I think sometimes the pics get missed in Club Chat area
Cheers

I was doing ok and holding up until I saw all these pictures and read someone though I would roll my baby on a littl hill then sounds light fighting words
Looks like you guys had fun and a good turn out. Now just think if it was on a Sunday Dazcat could have been there to take my place and show you some
buggy tricks.
Till I return I will just have to keep scrolling over these pictures each day and eat up band width..
Buggy On !!!!!:cry:cry:bounce:kiss

yeah camping is good, but unfortunately I had to be somewhere sunday so it wasn't possible for me, and I think a few others had commitments
saturday night or sunday too.
There's definitely some good tracks there. I was really thinking of trying the track behind where we had lunch. I reckon I could've made it.
The only prob was it was so long, it would've been hard to back down it if you didn't make it. And my silly falcon hand brake still
isn't working good enough to assist backing down a hill that steep. No-one else tried it either I suppose.
I'm sure there will be a next time.
