Opinion on rust prevention products
Hello all,
I'm currently just asking around on Australian classic car forums as to peoples thoughts on rust proofing products.
This is mainly to do with cavity waxes and cavity rust proofing. From what I've seen Australia does not seem to have much in the way of native
products apart from Fish Oil or Lanolyn. Lanolyn is the better of the two but neither have any corosion inhibiting factor. On rust free metal they
will work fairly well.
Anyhow, what I'm interested in is whether people would buy a reasonably priced cavity wax that can neutralise rust, protect from moisture, and hence
further rust forming, and is a permenantly pliable, self healing waxy barrier on the metal surface?
If I get enough interest from the classic car forums then I have a contact to use to put this product into the Australian market.
There are other importers of such products in Australia but there pricing is ridiculously high to the point where the manufacturer is very unhappy
with the importers pricing plus the lack of marketing the company does for this product.
Pricing for a 750ml areosol would be around $35-40 or less as I need the numbers before I bother with the indepth import duty etc expenses. The
current pricing of such products is $50 or more.
Hope to hear from as many people as possible on this as you could end up abloe to buy a very good product for a very reasonable price so we both win

When I worked at the Nissan dealership in Tuncurry we used the Valvoline Tectyl as a rust proofing,the door trims and any cover panels were removed
and a cavity wand was udes on the inaccessible areas.sometimes we mixed it with deodorised fish oil for the cars and utes that were used by the
fishermen. This product skins over but does not set hard,the overspray an be cleaned off with turps/kero. The vehicles that were treated had a good
life as against the untreated ones in this extreme environment.Tectyl can be purchased in bulk for brushing or spraying or in spray cans for small
areas .

It's made by Bilt Hamber and currently imported by Permenant Paint Products over here. But like I said they aren't happy with how shit PPC are in
general.
Check out Bilt Hambers website for their product range but the Dynax S50 is a top class cavity wax.
Like I said, if I get enough interest then I will become the Australian stockist

Tectyl protects but has no rust converting and inhibiting properties as I looked at this stuff too.

I used KBS. Its the Aussie version of POR15. Works very well and is 1/4 less in price than POR15
I do need more interest tho in the cavity wax to make it a viable idea!!!

I think Terasen Loctite do one that is good also that has a long hose that you can feed down the heater channels.

Yea, may be very helpful but in the UK its 13 pounds for Dynax S50 and here it's $50. Bilt Hamber are rather unhappy with his huge mark up and
unless he can show just how much he paid in import duty to justify his pricing then he's fleecing everyone who walks thro his door.
I'm just putting this out there to see if there's enough interest so that you guys get a good deal on a good product. Course if you wanna throw your

I use Rust Bullet everywhere you cannot see. It is $100/ltr but gets good covereage. I also have a test piece that painted about 2 years ago (1mm mild
steel raw) and left outside. You are supposed to put two coats on but I only did one. 
It sets hard though.
I would be interested in a product that flows well also for doing in the pillars and seams on a yearly basis. So count me in as an interested party if
the product is good and will save me money.
Do you have a shop of the northside of brisbane do you?

Don't have a shop but after finding things far too expensive to what they maybe should be I contacted the overseas manufacturer about the pricing.
This is when they said they weren't happy.
Like I said if I get enough interest I can just keep the stuff in the garage at home and sell thro internet and phone sales. Anyone on Northside could
easily arrange to come to me garage.

No worries mate. Like I said, I am an interested party for the hard to get to places. My personal preference would be a screw top that can take on of
the body deadener spray heads to air blow the stuff into seams etc. over an aerosol that I find don;t last long enough.

Thats 2 years on. When I painted it it was bare clean steel. Cant remenber if I rubs the oil film off that it comes with or not though.

The terrasan loctite cavity wax has rust preventative agents in it. My best mate is the rep for loctite here in SA and can get it and you should be
able to get it anywhere that sells loctite or car paint supplies. They use it in all new cars that come out or germany.
