gearbox
I have just repowered my 1971 beetle, with 2380 motor and a reconditioned gearbox. I am having problems with the shift. The rear coupling and nylon
bush are both new. I am running a type 2 kennedy clutch. The issue I am having is trying to get it into first gear. The easiest way to achieve this is
I have to go into second then back to first. When the engine is off it goes into all gears easily. Any advice would be appreciated. Crock

Have you tried double de-clutching before trying for 1st? Does it go into 1st at a complete standstill?
Sounds a bit like the baulk rings are sliding properly but somehow doing 2nd before is helping to spin the baulk rings a bit. Just thinking aloud
