Any experience with...?
Hey all!
I'm just wondering if anyone has had any experience with installing electric speedometers into their Beetles and it so, what sort of application did
you use?
Did you get a mechanical to electric converter kit?
Or did you do something like a PNP sensor?
Just doing some more research into some options I have.
To be honest, don't necessarily want to get rid of the speedo cable from the original application as it means I can go back to stock quite easily if
the time comes.
Cheers,
Seb

Vdo used to make a hall effect sensor that I think will allow you to run both. I can try and get the part number from mine in a couple of weeks if you
are interested.

I wouldn't worry too much about a sensor till you find out what signal the cluster needs.
I'm pretty sure the late Subis are 5volt PNP

Thanks all!
Joel, I'm going to take your word for it, that it is a PNP 5 volt signal needed.
If this is the case, my plan is to copy your setup with the NPN sensor and get an inline NPN to PNP converter and lot regulator to get it to the
speedo correctly.
