Need big circlip pliers, not VW
Hi
We're putting Holset turbo on my sons drift car. We need to clock the turbo and it has this big arse circlip that needs to be released to turn it.
Does anybody know where I can get one? I tried my friendly truck mechanic big Rudi but his were too small.
Steve

Can you get a BIG pair of multi-grips onto the two lugs?
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!

Hi Greg
Just to make it difficult those lugs point in so any force on them and the multi grips slip right off.

That'd be right! Do you have an 'old' pair of multis that you could weld a couple of pins onto?

interesting.
not my style but my car would be good at drifting especially if it had an L67 its drifty enough as it is.
I am building another VP with handling and traction a huge focus as I got a great taste of their handling capabilities on my current daily bomb.
I much prefer the swiss hill climbs. most powerful and agile cars I have ever seen and the scenery is like a cherry on top! Can't race cars without
awesome scenery

hi Steve,
Gedore do a 252-500mm inner circlip plier p/n GE8000/J6 and also a bent set GE8000/J51 but they are around the $300 mark. Ouch! I had one in stock
for ages and sold it but never re-stocked it as they are prety slow movers.
Any Tradesmart store, of which we a re a member, should be able to get it for you. Gedore is in Sydney and distributed by JW Ross.
good luck, and bet you don't have this problem on the VW's????

Hi
Now they look good and would give very good control. We have a few other options, my sons mates works at GCG turbos.
We only fitted it up to measure oil lines, cars back to normal now. When we start fitting it up for good I will be ready.
I thought about making something up with parallel jaws like a brake piston spreader.
Craig, I don't want to bother Westi, he's busy moving shop.

Update
Hi
Well we're starting to fit the turbo in the next few days so I went to a 2nd hand tool shop and bought a pair of 2nd hand Crescent brand multi grips
for $20.00.
I drilled some 5 mm holes in the jaws so that I could bolt tips that I have in a circlip plier set that has removable tips.

Hi
Update, finally got the my sons Skyline running after many issues. Just got it back from the dyno but it lifted the head, this is a high comp 300,000
k + motor with a worked head and lumpy NA cam.
Westy did an excellent job of the exhaust and intercooling pipework
So we just fitted Permaseal MLS-R and ARP Head studs and now hes off to run a drift called Matsuri at Wakefield this weekend.
It did 2 runs on the dyno, one at 7 psi and one at 12 psi.
