Hi Grahame
I think its original...
back in the 50s and 60s they were on many cars holdens BMC
Falcons and VWs Morris minors... type 3s..Beetles..
all looked the same
with the alloy strip on the edge

plus a chromed or stainless piece then went over the water channel [was held on with the two bolts and cap nuts..]

they sat in the rain channel [plastic over the edge]
and the chromed or stainless piece went in behind the rain gutter .. and the two screws hold them on with the chromed cap nuts..

nut sure about the nuts under it.. like that last one..
but maybe they all had those thin nuts... would make them easier to fit..

they could possibly be off anything back then...

I don't know who made them...

LEE

62 Beetle I had came with one... chucked it away// lol

Aren't the ones made today still made by the same manufacturer? If so then they are all still original stuff.

I have a new one of the soild steel ones like that but I am working on changing the fixing system a little so that nothing will touch the paint with the help of some rubber sheet too.

I seen one of those original ones sitting in a car park in some town between Melbourne and Sydney. I forget the name of the town, it was one of the well know ones?
