Hi
The South African models had 5 cylinder Audi motors, maybe its an import and by the look of the front grille I would say it is a SA model
Looks clean. Not sure about the price.

Look at the side windows - see how their bottoms are slightly lower than on the front doors. That shows it's a South African bus - they changed the
body tooling to make the side windows bigger. German T3s had a straight window bottom line, front to back. Late model ones (mid '90s on?) had a
unique front grille with four round lights.
The 'U' in the VIN confirms it - U for Uitenhage. South Africa made them until the early 2000s. Over there they called them the 'Volksiebus'. Do a
Google search on Volksiebus and you'll see.
The 'Vanagon' name was only used for the North American market, not here, Europe or South Africa.

Hi
Its the fault of the internet that these names cross pollinate, but I think they help us to understand each other when talking on international forums
etc, like Bay window, Vanagon or loaf most people understand what your talking about, same as 40 hp, 1300, 1302 or 1303 in bugs.

Hi Steve,
I disagree, I think they make things worse (especially bogan terms like loaf or bay). 40-hp yes, it was universal. At least Vanagon, 1302 and 1303
were genuine VW terms that were used in other countries. Like Kafer, Caribe, Bully, Rabbit, Coccienelle, Dasher, Quantum, Maggiolino, etc etc. Fine
for VW gurus but confusing for newbies. I prefer to use Australian VW market terminology where possible, and only use overseas terms in their proper
context (ie discussing those overseas models). I know perfectly well what Bizarre meant, but this particular kombi is a Volksiebus, not a Vanagon. And
that makes it very interesting and very cool.

Like T25
I read it on samba, so it must be correct.
Sometimes Volkswagen dealers sell spare parts. Amazing isn't it!
