Steering box lube
So my trusty Bentley manual tells me to lube the steering box with "liquid transmission grease".
Yeah, right! Supercheap has gallons of it, don't they?
I was told as an apprentice years ago to mix 1 part GP grease with 1 part 80/90 gear oil.
What do others use?

The 356 had the same SteeringBox until mid1957 - the Porsche factory WorkshopManual lists SAE140 for the VW box and SAE90 GearOil for the later ZF
SteeringBox.

i'm with 'h'
grease works fine , smooth steering and don't seem to get any leakage.
only new steering box i have bought was italian and came pre packed with what looked like
wheel bearing grease? i packed my current cars steering box with a regular x=chassis grease
after sucking out the little oil remaining.

Thanks for the input guys.
I remembered the second part of the lesson.
"If it leaks out of the bottom, the seal is stuffed.Then pack it with grease."
This one is a bit dry so i will use a bit of 80/90 gear oil in the grease to help it get in there.

took all the oil out and replaced it with grease helped to tighten up the steering as well

I have seen lot of people use molybdenum disulfide grease.
