Pre 1980 VW Camper Wanted in UK!! :)
Helloooo from the UK!!
Very strange question but does anyone know how easy it is to ship out a VW Camper to the UK from Australia as most of yours in my price range of
approx £3500 are in much better condition than the ones over here??

Too late, many container loads of splits went years ago when they weren't so desirable here and cheap due to the exchange rate. It seems the same
trend is now occurring with Bays, I saw a recent advert from a dealer in UltraVW in the UK announcing that he had plenty of imported Aussie Bays for
sale....

Brits buy them and save them. Too many people here hoard them and let them rust... or worse still, just complain about prices and don't buy them at
all.

3500 GBP isn't going to buy you anything good here, check out the link all the good ones are already there. I can understand your trying to save a
quid, but I wouldn't import a rust bucket only to have to then do a full resto after going through all the hassle of organising it then landing it in
the UK. If your going to spend money importing a Kombi get a good one, the cost is pretty much the same as importing a not so good one.
Personally I would save up and buy one on home soil. Good tidy original kombis are hard to find here, cheap ones are going to be a potentially a
painful experience. Don't be fooled at looking at the pictures of the thousands of people importing real tidy RHD Kombis from Australia. They have
stipulated to the many Aussie businesses which buy on behalf ,and send these over what condition they want. Basically only good original solid Kombis
are sort and brought then sent in batches to the UK.
You'll find most people (including myself) are not going to help send any Kombi or any VW out of the country as its frustrating enough to see how
many really good kombis are offered for sale every week in the UK from these shores. It started with split screens in the early to mid nineties now
its been happening with Bays in the last decade.
Sorry to be blunt but its how it is with Kombis now over here
recycle, restore, enjoy

Don't fret people. I'm living in the UK at the moment and I can tell you not too many people are interested in our overpriced semi solid bus'.
These days the Brits are importing their bus' from dry California and Arizona. Much more solid bus' than ours and half the price, plus heaps cheaper
to import. As a result over 50% of the bus' on the road here are LHD being the only disadvantage.
Gone are the days when we used to ship them over by the container full. Yes there are still companies like gdaykombis in operation but have you seen
their prices? With the exchange rate the way it is at the minute, they could almost start shipping them back to our shores.
