hey guys
i recently got back from a month in Egypt travelling around the country. i thought u might like to see some photos i took with some Egyptian Vee Dubs.
They love their VWs over there...

sorry the pics so big admin, i sent the wrong sized one.
in egypt u could see easily 100 white kombis in a row, and this i learnt is becoz the kombis are the taxis. each one would be decorated/ modified to
make it look individual. one even replced the VW logo on the front with a big mercedes emblem!

bugs
some beetles outside my aunty's place in Cairo. i saw many bugs over there which were 70s style, but the were all wide 5 stud. im sure they
werent all 67 models, maybe 4 stud didnt become popular over there...

msot beetles over there are so rust free cause of the dry conditioons as u could imagine, but then there are the exceptions!
this one was so rotten i had to take its photo, the fruit seller is laughing saying "do you want it?!?"
i love this photo...

i threw this in for interest, this is my cousin and his car, an early 80s Fiat 128. the price of cars in egypt is very high, as this piece of crap
(his words not mine) cost 14000 egyptian pounds, $7000AU!

Chaos theory
believe me, it has to be seen to be believed!
the way the kombi taxis works is, they dont stop when u want to get off or on, you just have to jump out when it slows down enough (preferably when
they are taking a corner slow enough) or run along side and jump into it (as the door is always open). alot of the time though i saw other passengers
co-operate by grabbing people by the arms to help pull them inside the moving bus.
you wouldnt believe the driving style of egyptians, no one uses the lanes, traffic lights r ignored, ppl merge ontop of you, no indicators, no
headlights at night, you honk ur horn wen passing so ppl know ur there. its crazy to the westerner, but that is the beauty of Egypt, chaos that
works!:o
