Repair bumper damage?
Hi guys,
So an idiot ran into the back of me today, I saw him in the rearview reaching onto the floor/bending down just before he hit me. He did a runner when
I pulled over to trade insurance.
Any recommendations on beetle-friendly panel beaters where I can get the bumper bent back into shape on the cheap (but still good)? It's been pushed
in, up and down, so it now looks like a flat S and I can't open the engine bay...
Cheers, Pat.

Its probably cheaper to buy a new one..
though You could take it off and bend it back in shape so You can open the boot..
its difficult to repair chromed parts..
after being bent into the correct shape and panel beated
it would need rechroming ..
so a new or good used one would work out cheaper
as chrome plating is very expensive..

So I had a better look in the light of day, and gave it a pull... the over-riders have straightened up a bit, and I may be able to get away with just
replacing the brace/strut that goes through the hole in the fender (it's been crushed, but otherwise there's no visible damage other than the slight
twist to the fender). I'll start by replacing the strut and go from there to figure out what else needs to be done. Can I get them from most beetle
spares places, or does anyone have a spare one of these:
Thank you guys so much for the repair suggestions and replacement bumper option, I may yet need to go down that path but hopefully not. I really
appreciate this community.
Here's hoping no one else's VWs get hit!
