bolt size
Can anyone tell me what thread and size the bolts that hold the body to the pan on a beetle are????? Saves me pulling one out of mine

I think they are 8 X 1.25 not sure how long maybe 20 - 25 mm ?

they are special bolts originally with points on the end..
made it easy to fit the bolts with the point in the factory

8 x 1.25 x 30 for the perimeter pbolts, the point was to pierce the rubber seal. There are 22 of them by memory. There's also 6 or 8 (depending on
model) M10 x 1.5 x 25-3o at the fuel tank and rear torsion/shock mount and 4 x M10 x 1.5 around 70mm long at the fwd bulkhead (also by memory)

If you are going to use 'normal' bolts, it my be difficult to push them through a new rubber seal. A hot 1/4" pointed steel rod [or old Philipsscrew-driver] pushed through the rubber, into the nut, will help.
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!

30 odd bolts aren't light, either.....that's why I welded mine.
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!
