oil pick up tube


i have been having trouble with my oil pick up tube
it doesn't seen to sit right is it possible to refit it with out
striping the motor

There is a nut that holds the oil pickup tube inside, from a stud around the oil sump plate hole. If you got good little fingers, this nut might just need tightening to bring the pick up tube 'home' as such. Id put a rag around you hand to prevent cuts on the case though. the edges are suprisingly sharp.

Otherwise, there is on some motors (like my 1600dp case) one of those giant flat head drive 'bungs' that screws into a hole where the other end of the pickup tube goes. Might able to tighten and fasten the pickup tube through there. But some cases like the early 1500 i have don't have this bung. The hole is filled in.

If the pickup tube is off centre, you might be able to get a piece of tube that fits neaty inside the pick up, you can gently bend it in place, i have done this before, you can really only check if the hold down nut is tight.
