need some advice 1600 to 2000 motor swap
I have a 1979 kombie with a 2 litre motor, is has done a exhaust valve in #2 cylinder, so I have to rebuild, unfortunately I have to save first, as I
think it will cost around $3,500-$4000 to do it. I have a 1971-72 superbug with a rusted out body, but the 1600 motor is bloody good in it. Is it
possible to swap over motor and gearbox from the Superbug to my 1979 Kombie??, I am fairly handy, with tools, so a little bit of adaptation is not a
big problem for me.

maybe not, i think the gear boxes are different and the kombi motor has a mount near the bottom of the crank pully,?
then you need all the tin ware for a 1600 into a kombi.

The input shaft is too long for a type 1 engine (type 4 have the needle bearing in the crank, type 1 have them in the flywheel nut) and engine mounts
and tinware issues as Ian says.
Also a 1600 is gonna struggle to get a Kombi moving with 2L gearing, may want to look at fitting a 1600 3 rib gearbox if you're gonna run a 1600
engine.
Might be easier to just get some reco heads for your current engine?

done it a few times , not the most powerful combo with 2ltr box , but it would do as a temp solution , if u change to 3 rib 1600 box you have to
change or lengthen the shift rod, if u keep the 2ltr , changing the bellhousing and input shaft isnt that hard .
hardest part will be locating crossmember and tinware oh and modifying inlet manifold for a vacumm pipe for booster
