Beetle vent window lock

Hi all
I have a 63 beetle with no lock on the drivers vent window,it has been broken off.
What is involved in replacing it.
Does the glass need to come out?
How hard is it to remove the glass??
Thanks,Cc

Yes the glass has to come out,I use a very narrow screwdriver under the rubber, starting at the top end and ease the glass and rubber away from the frame (be careful not to distort the frame)work it carefully and once the glass is moving it will come fairly readily.T lock is held on with 2 rivets make sure they don't protrude as they will hit the glass and then you will have a million glasses. Advice is given in good faith and no responsibility accepted.

yes the glass has to come out

soak in hot soappy water for a few days will help

then thin narrow screw drives to pri the frame away from glass

I just did mine 4 my Oval to re plate the frames
