My latest flat four vehicle purchase :-)
Hi all,
I guess I should let you all know about my latest purchase. I recently sold the fuel sucking HSV 6L and bought another car sporting one of our good
ole flat four engines with turbo.
Will let the photos tell you a bit more and show the mods I have already done.
First photo: Prior to pickup
Then I purchased this:
Then had the car performance tuned by KiDo Racing.
See and read here http://forum.liberty.asn.au/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=16602&sid=43b7acd9c2ad2d19a6dc6ddbe2b90dea if you are interested.
And now it is sitting lower to the ground:
I must say, I love driving a turbo car again
And I can now understand why so many want to put one of these little flat four beauties into an old VW

Don't these use almost as much fuel as a V8 though? Especially when you've got your foot in it. My Aunt drives a non-turbo Forester from about
2008-ish, and it uses more fuel than my WB Holden ute, despite having two less cylinders and 25 years of technological development!

wameman - I have gone from using an average of 17L per 100kms, down to 11.3L per 100kms. The performance tune also is leaner than factory tune, so I
guess that also helps and in my books, that is a big saving.
DubbyDo - The VW would then be perfect, but I'm sure I would be at a bit of a loss in the Suby
Paul - "will it be me off the mark with my R?" I guess you mean will it beat you off the mark and I think we should try and find out Rembering you drive a poofy auto with a computer that assist the bad
driver in launching And mine is a manual and takes more skill
Have a good weekend all, Kev

11.3l/100km is very good! I think the new ones are a lot better on fuel than the older ones. As I said, my Aunt's 5 year old non-turbo Forester is
about 14-15 litres/100km.

Just had the naturally aspirated version (2.5l) from Thrifty for the last 2 weeks, had some go (My usual ride is an 80 series Cruiser). Would love to see the difference of the turbo version

Kev, I hope it's not one of those Subarus that won't go over 100 kph, and gets stuck in the RH lane on the freeway.
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!

our V6 4wd Hilux get about 10/11 L per 100
subi bug 7.7 per 100
You still better off now then owner a bomadore .
Beats me why people buy V8s when small fours perform so much better.

Hi Greg,
I can assure you if I am doing 100kmph and in the right lane, I am still in 2nd gear and in the process of going to 3rd and passing others
Don't jump on me for this, but it even makes me think about going to the dark side in my Beetle

you can make a real nice ride by just adding a stock ej20t with the added bonus of air conditioning, low maintenance
and fuel saving .
