i hate rear wheel bearings. that is all.

one side with the 930 stub is in, just, going to pack more grease into the housing itself yet, then put the paper gaskets in with the caliper bracket, ran out of time to do the last bits properly so just sealed it up to avoid crud getting in :) more by the end of the weekend hopefully.

Oh, thanks for the tech support DB, they went on fine, except one of the clips stretched out of shape once it was big enough to fit over the spline, is a normal circlip ok as an alternative cos those are a serious PITA to get in!!!!!!!!!!

You would think when you pay $85,000 for a tractor they could make the gearbox dipstick outta something stronger than plastic so it doesnt snap off, fall into the bottom of the trans and get caught in stuff

yippee, leave sorted for nationals :D will see everyone there, sadly without a car, aiming to have the other stub axle in by then though! (stupid life getting in the way)

funny, everything in this things is insanely cosy, if anything bends... i think it mite be stuck permanently, anyway theres the pics of output flange & stub axle, thanks to rodney penrose for getting them for me (091-930output & 930-beetle stubs) :D

ok problem is this...

lucky i dont have coil over shocks in the rear end... ill let the pictures explain

http://i975.photobucket.com/albums/ae239/STIDUB/Image1013.jpg

http://i975.photobucket.com/albums/ae239/STIDUB/Image1011.jpg

http://i975.photobucket.com/albums/ae239/STIDUB/Image1008.jpg

expecting the shock to rub on the boot in a big way, any input into shocks would be great right now (obviously the originals arent being used, they are farrrked)

& since i couldnt find pics ANYWHERE of them

http://i975.photobucket.com/albums/ae239/STIDUB/Image1007.jpg

autometer ultralite gauge with lights on!

LED's from jaycar installed for photo as the original globes seriously suck & the green or red cover bits didnt help at all :)

sooo..... i guess its time for a show me your shockies request :) *provided you have something abnormal going on like kombi/930 cv's or skinny shocks some how...

Oh and I'm pretty sure DB runs commodore CV's...

I made some flanges and welded them on to bug stubs.
They are Commodore CVs, which are a little narrower, but same diameter as the 930.

Some shocks can not be turned upside down,
but these KYB "Offroad Gas" are meant to be mounted thusley.
Mine came from Vintage in 1993 I think.

seems to be the offroad crowd that inverts them after a little research, that seems to be ironic since i want something pretty short & offroad usually means long travel?

on a good note, the other side is now on too, not much else happened worthy of reporting that i can think of, more fun later though :D

oh, DB about the engine will discuss that with you when i can :)

Hi Dave

I have a similar problem with shock to axle clearance, I might get away with making a new top mount and laying the shock forward a touch.

I just got my Sway away axles from the states, they are much thinner than my wooden dowel dummy axles so I may be OK

Are you coming down to Wakefield for the Supersprint?

steve, sure am, booked flights not driving as i hate the commodore, but then i went out & bought a NEW tiguan:smilegrin:, pissy i cant drive it down now would of been the perfect running in for it

oh & the 71 window is different to 72> so im not too sure they would have one to fit

thankyou mustard for the pics of tie rods, anyway many thanks to lanner of VDUBenginnering (canada) for HD tie rods, was cheaper buying from him than making them here :tu: awesome gear, shouldnt have any issues with bent rods now (demolished 3 supers & got 2 straight rods from them, running super low... small price to pay for convenience/confidence they are perfect

did the ricey thing & picked up a HKS sneeze valve for the bug today, it was cheap for a genuine so why not?

sides, thanks for the pics of the shocks, will get in touch with vassy about it :)
