What grade of oil are you using?
Did you use a runing in oil?

Not sure I will check with Boris today I am assuming because the engine is new and tight that until it loosens up it may run a little hot, the temps
recorded are the first trip the car has done since leaving the workshop

55 idles for 40 Dells is unusual. 60 is the norm.
But as long as they are set at "best lean" and not just "2 turns out"

Paul,
you have to remember those carbies of yours came off a car that was tuned where my car was tuned and it's shit house. Also he drills out the jets,
rather than replacing them so who knows what size yours were really. Mine runs so rich, my eyes water if it's idling in the garage and stinks the
house out.
I'm sure the VVD guys have set it up right.

I have no doubt the VVD guys have set the car correctly it will run a little warm until the engine has been run in which means I will be out and
about every weekend

try and take it for a good drive Paul, preferably not stop start city driving or extended freeway cruising. A good country run with hills and corners
etc which gives the motor variable rev and load ranges is the best IMO.

Hi Paul,
glad to see you out using the car, which is why you built it
I thought you wanted a hand to change the spark plug leads or did you work out just to take one off at a time and replace it, move to the next one and
so on. It isn't rocket science
See you in the morning

ok silicone leads installed (thanks Adam) however made no difference to the issue with the head unit. It sounds as if it is clipping or maybe issue
with ac interference???? As soon as the engine stops it works fine. This isnt when you just use the radio but CD player as well.
anyone else come across this situation?

Tried wiring the sound system direct to the battery but had no effect with the suppression issue. I went to an audio store today and they said
sometimes you cannot stop the issue with distributors. I will take the car down to them to take a look but its very strange.

when I was a boy and had a hot Holden, we use to run a big fat radio suppressor, it just looked like a big ball of wire wound around a metal block ,
it worked a treat to fix ignitions feed back.
I guess this are how the new ones look all solid state ??

I am wondering whether I should upgrade the brakes in the long term currently the beetle has type 3 drums on the rear and original VW disc brakes on
the front.
Should I upgrade the front to CSP discs or should i fit discs to the rear? If I put CSP on the front can the current discs on the front be fitted to
the rear?

Long term.
When it's time to look at rebuild of existing package the outlay $ might mean an upgrade is viable.
In reality unless your pushing for times on a track, the combination you have will be up to the task, no questions.

I agree, stock disc/type 3 drum is definately a good package. I'm with Daimo that if yours were stuffed an upgrade is a little more financially
viable, altho any single piston calipers would NOT be on my shopping list.
