Hi

Thanks for the kind words.

The tail is growing on me, the wife hates it.

I thought it was time to fit a radio with blue tooth.

I'm going to put air conditioning vents where the stock radio hole is so I had friend fold me up an under dash bracket.

Im running out of room for things so a bit of a compromise with a sub woofer, I'm using a Fusion one which has built in amp.

BTW the blue stuff on the floor is aerobic mats that glued down in place of carpet to keep the inspectors happy.

I bought these LED warning lights on UK eBay, they work well but are little bright, I will put light some window over them.

to make the LED's less bright you just increase the bias resistor for them. More voltage across the resistor means less voltage to light the LED's :)

Hi

Thanks for that. Actually after driving the car more at night its only the high beam that bothers me, what size resistor would I need? Its a straight 12 volt feed from high beam.

I few goodies arrived last week.

A Griimspeed cross pipe, good for 5 HP and a AVO solid boost control actuator.

Hi Damo

I've already done them on the head end out to the gasket, I will do them again to suit the bigger cross pipe.

Hi Matt

Thanks, have you used yours yet? They are really clear and easy to see.

I've found my speedo a bit hard to read, the tacho needle is in front of the speed readout at most road speeds and when the needle is higher in the rev range I'm not looking at the speed, so I bought a HUD the same as Joel's.

The HUD is fantastic, so easy to read

Hi Matt

There is a rusty 75 near me, Glen Torrens might have a spare. When everything is right on a bug they are pleasure to drive, bigger motor just makes them even better.

I'm a big wimp, just went to a Toyota wreckers and bought rear air con unit out of an 02 Prado, looks promising. The guy that pulled it out also said the Honda Odyssey has a small rear unit as well. I plan to mount it in the boot and blow back into the air box.

That looks exactly the same pipe that I made for myself, I didn't get anymore power on the dyno, but with the headers ported the boost came on sooner & smoother. Even driving it you could feel the difference

I'm probably going to make myself one over the holidays too.. Did you cut up an original to get the flanges Jak? What size tubing did you use?

I used the original flanges, 50mm pipe with an expansion piece just like the one Steve posted, looks identical actually, it cost me $25 to make, it's no good unless the rest of the headers are ported though.
I'm amazed how small & restrictive it comes from the factory, I guess Subaru have their reasons?

Hi Simon

Yep back into it now, I'm reluctantly taking it off the road to get the gearbox noise looked at. I just cant stop wanting to drive it.

I want to give myself plenty of time get it ready for the drags at Sydney.

After the gearbox is done I want to get it tuned properly, and turn the wick up, I just have the basic SM4 plug & play map in it now.

Hi

Well gearbox is out and I took to Michael Newton Automotive at Mulgrave to get him to strip it down.

His shop is small but impressive, he had a few million dollars worth of Porsche track & and street cars sitting around. He cant look at the box until next week as he will be at the V8 stupid cars looking after a couple of Porsche cup cars.

He warned me that G50s are a noisy box anyway and as I've made it well mounted in the chassis that could be the cause of the noise.

After talking to to Reub yesterday who also has a G50 in a Beetle I'm confidant that my gearbox noises are abnormal.

To get the gearbox out again, I had to remove the rear bumper, rear apron and partially remove the rear mudguards, not something I want to be doing too often
