Thats right Zac, Im 38.
I have been just about every where in OZ, except Darwin, Broome, and the Rock, working on that one! I have never been O/S, and it looks like I will
have to wait until the Kids leave home, although I am hoping to get to Bad Camberg when it's on next.
I did a lot of traveling in OZ when I was a teenager surfing the east coast, in a 64 Holden wagon, from Adelaide right up to Cook town. Then I got
into Motorbikes and hit the Rally scene. Been to rallies in every state except the Northern Territory.
The tourist scene now is a bit of a let down. Too many PPL and everything has been commercialised. Back in the 70's, you could get into the car and
travel 3-4 hours out of Sydney to say Foster, or Ulladulla, and find a surf spot all to yourself, have a bit of a fish, and maybe go prawning, then
have a seafood feast for dinner and a couple of beers around a fire on the beach. If you try that now, and you get caught, it's a huge fine, for O/N
camping on the beach, and you get busted for the fire! I was always a clean camper, I always took all my rubbish with me and tryed to leave any
campsite as I found it.
I can remember that it was quite common for young PPL to band together, buy a landcruiser or landrover, Kombi ect, all go on the dole and travel
around Australia, almost for nothing! try that today.

Well done Kafer....must be cool to be almost there with your latest ride.
Haven't heard anything from the mechanic yet so not sure whats happ'n.No rust underneath really apart from 2 really tiny bits & the chassis is
all good so thats a relief.I'm so impatient though......i just want it all done yesterday.:bounce |

One tiny problem driving me NUTS....:cussing
As soon as I hook up my blinker lights in the dash the flasher unit starts flashing. Must be making a circuit but I can't find out where spent an
hour
last night trying to trace it.
What makes it hard is trying to use 3 wiring diagrams
Oldest son got his license yesterday so I have to fight to keep the ute for a bit longer. Lucky I own the major share of it still.
The utes going to have a $1000 worth of stereo put in it on Staurday should be good for listening to Rage Against The Machine till my ears bleed.
My poor ute I will miss it.:cry

another nice day in england (i never throught i'd say that sentence)
suns out, bird chirping, everything green as hell, and i can even but a can of VB(or a crownie/carlton) for £2.32 ($5.93491AUD baragain eh??)

Hi all!!!!
Sorry I haven't been around
Time is getting away from me...and Lou and I have been watching DVD's of a night...
We went to see Bel on Tuesday....she was even barer than before......her body was sitting on a trolley out in the sun....
I told them to take her apart and fully clean her down...now she is bare bones literally.....
Ingrid is starting to paint and gave me a ring yesterday....I took all the rubber pieces around Tues to go back on her...I'd got all new stuff last
year.....
Got a package from Wolfsburg West today........nice red 3 point seat belts!!! I ordered them on the weekend and they arrived a couple of days
later....the FedX people just kept missing me.......so fast, and I only had economy freight
Lou and I are away for a week..leaving tomorrow...Bob is going into the kennel in the morning...
Mandie sounds good news about the splittie...hope it's back to you soon

Well I found a leaking rear wheel cyclinder on Pidge, rang up stokers for a quote on a new one, $130 each, I nearly fell off the chair!! Alan said I
would get a shock. He advised getting them sleaved, this is what Im going to do, at $50 its a lot better than $130. The exchange set of brake shoes
for the rear axle was a nice surprise, $40 for a set of 4 new linings. Might as well do the front too, $280 and I will have 80% new braking system,
all I have to do is find a new master cylinder!

Well the auto eleco has been and gone and the flasher unit was at fault(so he thought) hooked everything up and then spent an hour trying to get the
oil press and gen lights to work
Thats when I discovered what the extra pin was on the old flasher unit.
Any hoo to cut a long story short the dash is in and everything works a treat.
Tomorrow put the new door cards and speakers in and the back seat and bleed the brakes.
Got two new tyres fitted to my newly painted black rims now giving it the"old school, lowered, rat look". Get the other two done next week.
Just need my guard now and we're good to go.(fingers crossed)

Kafer....you're almost there,i'm very jealous!!
Had such a good weekend.Firstly bought myself an early birthday present(my birthdays on Thurs.!)on Saturday....a pair of overriders & towel rails
for my splitty bumpers.They're soooo cool & are going to look so sweet all chromed!!
Then went to the market today(which is my job)& my friends that have a stall next to me gave me a birthday present which was a mug with a purple
& white splitty(which is the colour i'm painting mine)on it & a big purple vw symbol on it with my nickname that they call me & also a
coin purse with a cool splitty on it.I was so stoked. :thumbI'll take a couple of pics & try & post them 2morrow.Overall a very cool
weekend!! |
