Sorry haven't posted any pics yet i have been too busy driving it. I have been thinking about how many chinese made parts are in this resto and i can honestly say none whatsoever. Take out the vintage speed exhaust and shifter but their made in taiwan. So you can restore a VW with no china parts happy days. This is why it took so long to restore finding quality original parts. Oh hang on the pop outs are china. Shit.

Alternator has been swapped out for a new bosch unit and i painted the pulley if yall wondering.

Correct. I used his parts but built it myself it was not a kit i figured it all out myself.

No not fixed yet. The mallory seems to b overheating and cutting out. Think it needs ballast resistor. If that don fix it its 010 time.

050 is the bosch dizzy I would pick till you sort the mallory.

From what I have read 050 is the german 009 of the type4 world. Good for short rod engines.

True but i don't want to go looking for an 050 cause their hard to find and i could also run a stock vacuum advance type 4 dizzy without vacuum connected apparently that works good too. But i have a rebuilt 010 sitting here so i will try that if ballast resistor doesn't work on the mallory.

Other than ignition issues the engine just keeps getting better. cruizes at 110kph like nothing, right foot is hardly pressing the pedal. Hooked up the new speedo cable and now i know how fast i'm going its quite impressive.

I use the parts cleaning room at work. Degrease, hot tank, plastic bead blast, hot tank, then wet bead blaster for the shine then pressure flush machine. About five hours work. This is fone with gallery plugs out.
