Hello,

I'm pretty keen for a 5 bar if it's not too late, but I won't have all the money for another week or two unfortunately.
Are you likely to be going ahead before then?
If yes then i'll see what I can come up with so I don't miss out.

Also, how much would a second set of the weld on tabs cost so I can fit the kit to my runner, but eventually transfer it to my project car?

Thanks
Regards
Ben

At this stage the "special batch" should be completed (ready for postage/pickup) by mid next week. Thanks to all that have paid up front to make this possible.

I have made a few extra kits, so if anyone is wanting one then now is the time to buy :tu:

No they wont.... Type 3's are entirerly different under there.... You'll be having to make your own... At the very least you'll need to fabricate different top shock mounts for the drop bars and the cross bar.

FUCH your early!

I've got an early type 3 with swingaxle trans in Hornsby that you're welcome to put up on jack stands, pop the wheels off and take measurements of if you like Craig. PM me if you want.

Also I've got a 76 I'd like to build up to be a weekend track car, so I'd like to get a set of your Kafer bars fitted & some general parts/setup advice if you're willing to give it.

Cheers, Dave.

Craig you're welcome to come have a look at my chassis if you want to get an idea of the type 3 measurements I'm in Sydney. I did a my Kafer truss setup myself because nothing was available. The body is still off so it's easy to see. It's a semi detachable setup. Crossbar and two forward facing struts I welded in. The two rear struts connecting to the rear gearbox mount is removable via clevis style connection.
Cheers, Paolo.

A Type 3 version would be great... My brothers WRX powered Notch could benefit from it... He is upgrading the subframe to an IRS converted HD Squareback swingaxle version soon, so it would be a perfect chance to do this mod.

FUCH your early!

No worries Craig. You're more than welcome to use it for measurements after Easter.

Hey Paulo, hope your fasty is close to paint. Can't wait to see it up and running.

Dave, it's been under hi fill for best part of a year. Been a struggle this last year so I put it on the backburner till I get funds and time to do another big push to get the body painted and back on the chassis. Till then I'm just gettin my chassis all minty and fresh so when I attack the body again I can sit it back on the chassis straight after paint.

Craig, happy to help if you need it. Mine were carefully set out to thread past the heater boxes because I wasn't committed to the idea of no heaters. I mounted up the motor and tranny before tacking the tabs in position. I think from memory I tried setting it out using the top shock bolts but just couldn't seem to get the rear struts down to the gearbox cradle without hitting the starter motor or the heater boxes or the heater cable. That's when I decided to put the crossbar in front of the shocks on the shoulder of the shock tower.

Its really tight trying to make it work with the heater boxes and heater cable lever and the top of the CV joints but I'm sure you already know that. This is the only position I could find if you have any intention of keeping the heaters.

BTW, I had mine professionally TIG welded because I wanted to get engineers cert on the IRS conversion so it all got welded at the same time after I did all the setting out and tacks so contrary to what it may seem making my own did not work out cheaper than buying one of Craig's Kafer cup setups.
