Ive been thinking along these lines too Brad.... Not a fan of the conventional big arse wings that the drag guys run.... I want to run an engine cover too... Same as your car actually.... I have one of those engine covers for my car too.

Do a search on eBay for vw beetle roof spoiler, its for the new beetle but comes flat and is flexible,so we can put them on our roof above the window...that's what I'm going to run on my race bug...

Yes..... But does it actually work?

The Remmele motorsport ones are the type I was referring too.... Still no data to support its effectiveness.

Anything that breaks up the air flow over the back should work...it will just depend on its effectiveness.
Having it up on the roof will do the job but will also create drag. Wings on the deck lid tend to create less drag as the airflow (boundary layer) has or is in the process of seperating from the body.

Tyres are on and ready to go.
Just need to pull my finger out and get a wheel alignment .
And if it's not to much of a rush ,maybe a new wing.
And fingers crossed a some more pb's soon there after.
I'll post up some pics if I make a wing.
Anyone else going out soon.

Has anyone seen a mph difference in doing flaps on the guards.
Or a handling improvement .
I was thinking some speed holes in the front guards and some flaps at the rear.
But I think they look ugly , so I am not real keen on the idea.,
But if it works , I'll give it a go.

Front flaps are the best ones.
But they will only slow you down.

Hahahaha.... Funny fooka!
Like you, I'm not a fan those 'speed holes' in the rear part of the front and rear guards....Have been looking at some form of air flow management on the guards myself Brad... Have you noticed that many of the glass frontends have 'dam' like structures behind the front wheels?... Obviously this is to limited the amount of air that is caught in the rear sectio of the guard... As my car runs steel guards I have been thinking of making a plastic (ABS) panels to fit in that location.... Another idea was to make a funnel like structure from the rear part of the front guard, into in the inner quarter panel section and out through a suitable duct.

For the rear I was thinking about fitting a modified set of stock tail lights.... Gut them and the section of gaurd they bolt too, then bore some large holes in the lens.... Whould this allow enough air to pass through?... Dunno... Prolly not as much as fake 'flapper' tail lights, but I reckon they would look way better.

Instead of flaps and holes to let the air out maybe stop it going under in the first place? Never been a fan of those Wik style front ends but apparently they work, the chin spoilers the german look guys use likewise. Maybe fab up an air dam that mounts just behind the nose so its a bit inconspicuous.

I would love to put some under body sheet in , but that's only Gona make it heavier.
Maybe when the car goes on it's next diet I will do it then.
I would love to put dents like a golf ball has in some sheet and go the hole length of the car underneath .
But being a pan car , it doesn't seam like it will be worth it.
Maybe when I get serious and build a tube car, but while it's a pan car . I guess it can just stay as is for now .
Maybe just a weird wing will do for now.

What speed does all this aero stuff start to work , opps the run is over . I think the drag wing is about keeping our cars straight , not so much down force on top of wing , thats why most have large side plates . Any way Brad ! a wing will be a good work bench or a place to put your smoke's .
