Obviously a stock width beam will give you more stability, but I don't think there will be that much difference. The centre of gravity is lowered and
you also have wider than stock tyres.

Stock width beam is the best Mick.................but then you need to make sure the wheels will clear the shock towers, and the guards. Dont forget
you may need to get longer tierods (original ones) as yours may have been shortened for the beam.

nah man as Simon said.. its not going to make a lick of difference..
at the moment your Tyre/rim/beam combo is working and your not
scrubbing out on anything.. you've got just as much tread on the road
now as you would without 2"beam.. its not going to make any difference..
just going to run into problems with trying to get your tyres to clear the guards..

So you've lost an inch of track either side from the beam but do the new alloys/tyres fill the arches nicely? I mean out to the edge of the
fender/wing without it scrubbing?
I personally would prefer the point of pivoting to be further out as per a std beam but then you have clearance issues with wide tyres fitting under
stock arches. Without being able to try a std beam as wide as you can go tyre wise against the narrowed beam with wide tyres then its hard to say
which would be best but a think the narrowed beam with wide tyres gives you the best grip you can hope for.
The lowering obviously helps with the centre of gravity so I think the other main concern is trying to keep the rear end level when cornering to
minimise weight transfer and the chance of the rear end acting as a pendulum. The more level the rear then the better the weight/grip is distributed
between the two rear tyres and conversely the front end too.
madness is in the eye of the beholder

The shots don't really do it justice - if you look straight along the bottom of the car, the pipes are very well tucked away.

tell me about it Vassy!
But yes....i know - i knew from the beginning. I will TRY and take it easy.
If i make it to a drag day with the current g/box i cant wait for all the comments on how SLOW my time is because i didnt wanna blow the g/box just
yet.
I know its gonna go, just hoping to have a little fun first! then upto Dave it goes - and on my knees begging to my wife i go!
Ordered my 2inch narrowed Sway bar yesterday - should see it monday/tuesday (yes i did finally get one!!). So staying with the beam as in - ill need
to experience handling issues before going back.

Vassy, you should know that this is not true. There will always be something to spend money on when you own a VW and its something else we can do to
piss the missus off
Looking good Mick and be positive about the gearbox, or just dont tell the missus you need to spend more. Or you could bullshit to her and say Westi
miss quoted you and its gonna cost a few grand more (sorry Brad) and of course you will make it up to her (lie, lie, lie).
