Well done Simon, good to see it make a couple of passes at least, Pauls 13.3 was awesome too. T&t wednesday night? Get that boost reference sorted
and we'll see a full pass on the go pedal with out the die in the ass at 1/2-3/4 track.

I spose clocking a 15 with only half track power isn't too bad...
A bit busy this week though.... Got heaps of marking to do, and have Parent-Teacher Night tomorrow night.... So looking forward to chatting to some of
the parents about they're little treasures!
Maybe next week....
And as Pete said.... That 10 second Bug is a V8 powered thing.... So of course I had to tell him about some out east coast Dubbers efforts..... But
it's not a bad bit of kit from those guys.... I grew up with them, so it's kinda funny how they have a VW in they're workshop these days.... They
use to give me flack for rolling Dubs way back in the day....
Full circle hey?

Worked a little on the car today..... Thought I'd try a difference setup with the emulsion tubes.... Besides the turbo tapered F2's I had in the
carb at the track, I only have F2's and F7's, so I thought I'd try those.... Fitted the F7's with 165 mains and the 180 airs.... Right away the
cars idle was a little patchy.... Hard to get a nice constant idle.... Fitted the 45F8 idles in there to try and clean it up... The engine began to
really lope.... Adjusted the mixture screws a little more... 1.5 turns out seem to tidy it up.... Still not perfect.... Fitted some 50F8's.... A
little rich now..... Hmmm..... Fitted the reference port up.... 'T'ed off the waste gate line.... Fuel pressure dropped a heap... Adjusted it up and
managed to get a reasonable pressure, though not constant at idle... As the idle moves around (too rich and afr's from rich to lean), the pressure
does also.... As engine speed drops, gauge goes to low vacuum, the pressure drops too low, as idle lifts, pressure does also....
Think I need to try a check valve in the reference line.... Hopefully by doing this, the pressure will be more constant and I will then be able to get
the jetting a little better....
Fun times....

Update time......
Drag season is officially over here in WA.... Time to pull the POS down for a freshen up.... The engine comes out in the next few weeks, to be
converted back to NA duty.... It will be fitted to the T34.... Which is going over the pits (rego) asap.
The reason for all this is simple.... I found it very hard to get a handle on the tune without the car being roadworthy.... So the POS is getting a
separation order lodged.... The body needs new heater channels, the pan will get a lick of paint, and the two will be reunited once more.... On goes
the BRM's and then it's time for rego.... Then work will begin on the new setup.... A new 2276 is currently going together which will be fitted to
the POS.... But with a difference.... It's going get a little blow through EFI lovin'..... Had enough of the DCOE.

Just arrived today.....

Time to start fabricating.... Just need to snag a little of that pressure hose, fabricate a suitable carb support bracket, new engine cover standoffs
and I think I have a cool idea for the aircleaner issue.... Stolen from Nick's Junka!
Still waiting for the Percys Adjust-a-jet bit too, but I can work around that....

Don't much like his attitude.... I asked him a few simple questions about his carb kits, all I got was very abrupt replies....
So I did a little research and found I could build my own for far less than he's asking for his kit.... So far I have less than 350 bux in this
lot.... Chuck in a little TIG work and I'll be rolling...

Yep..... Just couldn't get it to work consistently.... With no local knowledge, rare and expensive parts and finicky tune, after two years fiddling
with the thing I just got jack of it.... To be honest, I reckon the carb is just too big for my little engine and possibly too modified to boot!
So as an interim (before the stroker and efi go in the new body), I thought I give this a shot....

Ok.... So now I got my 500 Holley in bits.... Fitted the smallest PV I could find (3.5), the Adjust-a-jet is here now, and the boost referencing mods
are about to happen, but still I have questions....

Can anyone tell me what all these ports (the large one at the top and the two smaller ones on the lower right) are for in the base plate are for?

Got back in the shed this morning..... So started on the new intake for the Holley....
But first I needed to pull this....

Then I bolted this on in it's place....

Followed by this.....

And this...

Which needed some trimming.... And shortening...

Which got me to this....

Happy with that lot so it's off the TIG dude for a little fettle....
Then I started on the new breather/catchcan setup....
It's kinda cool and a little odd..... Just the way I like it!

I just want to make this very clear to you all...... I know absolutely nothing about Holleys!.... Ask me about Dellortos and I can bore you to tears
on those babys, but Holleys are a total unknown.....
Now for my questions.... Is there any reason why I can't use the stock vacuum port as the signal port for the Power Valve (PV) boost sensing mod?

I think I might be able to get in there and redirect the gallery into the PV chamber, but would this possibly have a disastrous effect on some other
function within the carb?
As a side note for those that are better informed than I.... My carb is marked with a 4412-S model number.... Does that mean its suitable to be used
on a blown engine, and this port I am contemplating using is in fact the OEM method for boost sensing?

Try this Simon
http://ultimateaircooled.com/simplemachinesforum/index.php/topic,7072.0.html
http://ultimateaircooled.com/simplemachinesforum/index.php?topic=5909.0
I looked into this but found boost referencing was more for street driven cars. I opted for the small power valve (2.5) and bigger jets (65) I just
find I need to let it idle faster to account for the bigger jets.
if you go to ultimate aircooled and search on "boost referencing" there's heaps of good info and discussions. You'll soon learn there are almost
as many different ways to do it as there are oppinions on it.
ask me again this time next week if i'm still happy with the holley....

Yeah I know about it.... Dave Kawell was the gentleman responsible.... Tough to find the issues.... But I think I might have it sorted.... Will get to
it this weekend.... My TIG guy is MIA, so I've call Kim Ledger today to see if his guys can do it... So its off to them later in the week.

Boost referenced the 500cfm Holley today....
Needed to machine a slot where that black line is....

Used this....

And this...

To make this....

See that 'L' shaped gallery?

It lines up with the slot I cut in the carb body earlier...
Then I drilled a hole at the top most part of it....

Which lines up with the large hole that is cast in the side of the PV manifold...

Which was then tapped with 1/8 tapered tap....

So I could fit this....

Then I needed to drill, tap and seal these two galleries to reditrect the vacuum/boost signal....

Then I whacked it all back together....

Still need to fit the Adjust-a-jet and then we are done....

What internals have you done with your engine, I basically want a bit more stick out of my basically standard 1600tp, any hints? I was originally
going to use a SU then a side draft, then this but now i dont know
