Hi
My gearbox is ready to be picked up, turned out to be not as expensive as first quoted.
A few photos, the intercooler tank in place.
I have big feet so I decided to make my own front speaker enclosures using ready made speaker bases.

That was exactly the same as how I had my front speakers installed at one stage.
The pods still got in the way on the drivers side.
give it a try, see if you have the same problem.

Hi Joel
I'm really pressed for speaker space so I will see how it goes, I wanted to keep the speaker base away from the accelerator pedal.
I fitted the gearbox today, motor tomorrow. I'm not sure if I want to drive it this weekend with double demerits.

other solution is not to have any at all.
that's what I do with all my cars. either stock speakers or none, depends on what its options were from factory.

Hi
the only speaker space on a 1303 is a single speaker grille on the right hand lower edge of the dash.
I do like to listen to the radio and ipod and blue tooth will be handy.

Hi
Gearbox and motor are back in, just doing a few odd jobs as the weather is too shity to drive the car in.
The Grimmspeed cross pipe has altered the rexy rumble, more toned it down.

Hi Barry
I will put some in the back as well but I haven't made a parcel shelf yet, I want to do one of type that goes upto the bottom of the rear window.
Rear side panels might be easier, how affective are they in rear side panels.
Steve
I think this might be Joels car.

Hi Damo
Good point.
I mounted my header tank and inter cooler reservoir very high in the engine bay so I will need to make the parcel tray easily removable in case I need
to fill either tank on the road.

have you ever thought about mounting small speakers inside and under the dash corners pointing down to direct sound towards the foot well?
or 2 small speakers side by side in the stock grill so at least you have stereo sound instead of mono.
I would love to set mine up like this but I cringe at the fact there is no place for a radio in a type 3 that doesn't hang like dogs balls.
So I opt for no radio at all
even those retro sound radios don't look right at all.

Hi
All my under dash area is taken up with relays and wires.
I had it running toady and drove it for about 15 minutes and then the weather turned bad.
Transmission still has noises but nowhere near as bad as before and it seems to be just one noise now, not a variety of noises. I've decided to keep
the extra mountings that I've fitted even if they do transmit noise.
I fitted an extra brake light bulb in tail light housing, just in case and also I've made a move to a more permanent coolant overflow reservoir.
I'm using US style tail light lenses.

Hi
Car is running again with the rebuilt transmission, still noisy but now I know I'm not doing any damage.
Booked in for a dyno on the 18th and will also have a knock module fitted to the Autronic SM4 at the same time.
I'm sorting out ride heights now and just having fun driving it. I'm also setting up the waste gate actuator.

Hi
Just went out to my test track, the RMS were doing truck inspections there so I had to wait awhile.
I only wanted to setup my low boost pressure or gate pressure which will be my everyday drive around boost pressure, it made 13.9 psi in 2nd gear.
When its on the dyno we will set up the Eboost to make 20 psi when needed.

I still remember vividly experiencing 18lb boost...seemed like endless power, and in third gear equated to 175km/hr... ah the memories.
Really look forward to hearing how it all goes Steve. Might get me cracking on mine again too

Have you had anymore seat time in the bug?
I want to go down to Wakefield and have a play around before the event to sort out swaybars etc.

That fitment is perfect!
How much did you drop it at the rear? Preferably in minutes if you know.
Also the front?
Curious as to what the wheel specs are and tyres as well.
Looks damn good though Steve, I'd love to build a Subi powered bug one day.

Hi
the box is my sons car which I spend too much time working on, but love driving.
I have 944 adjustable spring plates so I don't know degrees & minutes, I just make a mark on the spring plate with a marking pen and keep moving
around the base point until I'm happy.

Hi
I took the bug over to Westside today for a little bit of exhaust work.
The O2 sensor was in an awkward place, Brad told me he had 90 degree fittings for O2 sensors, so I fitted one.
Paul who works at Westside did a great job fitting an extra mount to the system and making the tailpipe go straight out rather than dumping on the
ground.
And a random shot that I took outside Vintage Vee Dub the other day.

| I had an 1800 Golf that we cranked up to 23lb boost. It was a real weapon. Luke Pell drove it to Dubs gy the Pub back in the day and
it got him addicted to power. When you wound it back, 12 psi felt like a stocker.....
Also had a mates baja at 15-17lb WRX. it was fun on the beach, thats for sure.
Get it cranking Steve, you won't look back, except maybe at the cops disapearing in the rear vision mirror.
I think the biggest problem other than the law, will be the terminal velocity with that G50 box and 20lb of boost....it'll have legs that will just
keep on running......Woo Hoo
